June 1, Sunday – Three Months and Counting

At 7:00 the anchor was lifted after being buried in the ground for three weeks in the same northeast Florida 20 mile circle. Georgia faded in the rear view mirror of Snee-Oosh and South Carolina became the twelfth state to be visited in the circle tour. For those of you watching the fuel cost: $2850 - traveling 5,910 miles.
For the first time since traveling the Florida Gulf’s Forgotten Coast, I left the interstate system and starting running up Highway #17 up South Carolina heading for its northern partner. My first stop in South Carolina was the barrier island called Hunting Island State Park just up the coast from Savannah and Hilton Head. The park was like camping in a sardine can with close vehicle checks at the gate. I didn’t get the warm and cozy feeling there and to punctuating that a nasty electrical storm plowed down the beach with several close lightning strikes.
